CAS International (Comité Anti Stierenvechten) is the biggest organization in the world which works exclusively on the abolition of bullfighting and cruel fiestas (festivals) during which bulls and other animals are tortured. Together with our colleague organizations, we want to end this animal abuse as soon as possible.

Bullfighting
Bullfighting is one of the most cruel forms of animal abuse. Every year, more than 250,000 bulls and cows are tortured and killed worldwide during bullfights and similar events.
Also during fiestas ('village festivals'), tens of thousands of bulls and other animals are severely maltreated.

New movie Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz with bull runs
Recently, CAS International read on a pro-bullfighting website that the new Hollywood movie 'Knight & Day' will contain images of bull runs. The makers are now filming in the United States and also in Spain, to film the bull runs. Famous stars Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz play the lead roles in this movie.

The film makers want to imitate the famous Running of the Bulls in Pamplona. To accomplish this, they are chasing bulls through the streets of Cádiz and into the bullring of Sevilla (Andalusia).
Apart from the fact that bulls are abused for this movie, we also fear that after seeing this movie, even more American (and other) tourists will participate in the bull runs in Pamplona and elsewhere in Spain. 'Thanks' to writer Ernest Hemingway, already a lot of American tourists travel to Pamplona to see the Running of the Bulls, and these are people who do not think about the suffering of the bulls.

We have to prevent that with this movie, the bullfighting industry is promoted and that is why we ask you to help us protest against the suffering of bulls in this movie. CAS International sent letters to the representatives of Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, to film company 20th Century Fox and agent Creative Artists Agency. We also asked our colleague organizations to help us protest and several organizations did, such as AnimaNaturalis and México Antitaurino.
