CAS International
CAS International (Comité Anti Stierenvechten) is the biggest organization in the world which works exclusively on the abolition of bullfighting and cruel fiestas (festivals) during which bulls and other animals are tortured. Together with our colleague organizations, we want to end this animal abuse as soon as possible.

Bullfighting
Bullfighting is one of the most cruel forms of animal abuse. Every year, more than 250,000 bulls and cows are tortured and killed worldwide during bullfights and similar events.
Also during fiestas ('village festivals'), tens of thousands of bulls and other animals are severely maltreated.

Important new book about the bloody history of bullfighting
In May 2010, a very important new book was released about the bloody history of bullfighting worldwide: 'Bullfighting; A Troubled History'.
This book, written by (anti-)bullfighting expert Elisabeth Hardouin-Fugier, was released in English on the initiative of CAS International.
Mrs. Hardouin-Fugier, who is an affiliate of the French anti-bullfighting organization CRAC, released the book a few years earlier in French, about bullfighting in Europe ('Histoire de la Corrida en Europe'). However, CAS International wanted to release a book in English about bullfighting in Europe and Latin America, to inform a larger audience about the cruelty that is involved in this kind of events. Mrs. Hardouin-Fugier was very enthousiastic about the idea and very soon, we found a publisher: Reaktion Books, established in London.
CAS International contributed financially to the production of the book and provided the publisher with many photos made during bullfights and cruel festivals with bulls.
The result is a very informative book with many photos and illustrations about the history of bullfighting and the anti-bullfighting movement in Europa and Latin America. Bullfighting is not only organized in Europe (Spain, France and Portugal), but also in 5 countries in Latin America: Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela.

Mevrouw Hardouin-Fugier conducted an in-depth investigation into the suffering of bulls and horses in all bullfighting countries for the production of the book. The suffering of the animals is well described and we hope that everyone who reads the book will be convinced that bullfighting and cruel festivals with animals should be abolished as soon as possible.
On May 16th 2010, CAS International presented the first copy of the book to Mrs. Hardouin-Fugier, during an important international anti-bullfighting meeting in Barcelona. She was very happy with the result, and CAS International is very pleased with the book as well! This book is a valuable addition to the many books that are written about bullfighting, especially because this book is focussing on the horrors that take place during events with bulls, horses and other animals.
Marius Kolff (CAS International) presents the book to Elisabeth Hardouin-Fugier
The book can be purchased in several (online) book shops for about € 25,- (£ 19,95). We ask you to buy a copy of the book and ask your friends and family to read it as well, so that more and more people are convinced that bullfighting should not be supported anymore!

CAS International has made a list of tips for tourists, so you can also help us abolish bullfighting and other cruel events with bulls and other animals as a tourist.
The main tip: never go to a bullfight or a cruel fiesta, like the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona!
