CAS International
CAS International (Comité Anti Stierenvechten) is the biggest organization in the world which works exclusively on the abolition of bullfighting and cruel fiestas (festivals) during which bulls and other animals are tortured. Together with our colleague organizations, we want to end this animal abuse as soon as possible.

Bullfighting
Bullfighting is one of the most cruel forms of animal abuse. Every year, more than 250,000 bulls and cows are tortured and killed worldwide during bullfights and similar events.
Also during fiestas ('village festivals'), tens of thousands of bulls and other animals are severely maltreated.

Publicity stunt against bull suffering in Pamplona
On Sunday 5 July 2010, ninety activists representing our Spanish colleague organization AnimaNaturalis protested against the Running of the Bulls and the bullfights in the Spanish city of Pamplona (which take place every year from July 7-14), with the support of PETA.
During the protest, they were lying on the city hall square. With their bodies, they formed a 'bull' covered in blood, symbolizing the maltreatment of more than 50 bulls a year in Pamplona.
The activists were painted in black and red: black symbolizing the bull's body and red symbolizing the blood flowing during the bullfights organized in Pamplona. Other activists showed signs which said that during the festival of San Fermin, Pamplona stands for 'blood, torture and death'.

AnimaNaturalis stated during the protest that the festival in Pamplona involves a lot of bull suffering. It is important to inform tourists who travel to Pamplona on the consequences of the bull runs on the bulls. The organizers of the Running of the Bulls fool tourists into believing that bulls enjoy chasing people, while in fact, these animals are forced to do so. They are also subjected to maltreatment during the bull runs, after which they are tortured and killed during a bullfight in the local bullring.
The protest was also organized to remind the city council of the fact that there are other ways to amuse tourists, without the use of animals. In the past, 'car runs' have been organized in Pamplona: people were 'chased' by Formula 1 cars. They liked it just as much as the bull runs, so it is really not necessary to use bulls.
Anti-bullfighting organizations such as CAS International will continue protesting against cruel festivals during which bulls and other animals are tortured and/or killed. Every year in September, CAS International and the Spanish political party for the animals PACMA organize a protest against the cruel fiesta Toro de la Vega in Tordesillas. During this fiesta, a bull is chased and stabbed to death with lances.
